Congratulations on a great article and a fantastic piece of reporting, Mélina. It made me think of the concept of ‘cuidadanía’, or caring citizenship, which the Spanish philosopher Irene Comins Mingol mentioned in my interview with her on my Substack earlier this year. It also made me think that I really ought to interview some Latin American thinkers on care on my podcast!
Thank you, Martin! Love the idea of cuidadanía (more beautiful linguistic play around care that only works in a specific language!). Looking forward to those LATAM-focused interviews.
If you come across any interesting Latin American care theorists, or writers on care, in your research, please let me know and send them in my direction!
This is a great overview of the advances on care in latin america - I think the best I've seen. The world - and especially "northern, developed" countries have a lot to learn from these examples and philosophies.

Thank you for the kind comment, Gawain. Indeed they can - these advances on care really flip the "development" paradigm on its head.
